Build Your First Website — Kids Design a Real Web Page With AI

Explorer · Ages 7–10Studio mission · No box required15–25 minutes Rolling out now — Founding Families get it first

Build Your First Website is a FoundrKids Studio mission where kids ages 7 to 10 design a real website just by describing it to Spark. They pick a topic, a look, and a giant title, then press one button and watch an actual web page appear. No box required: your child remixes it until it’s exactly right and saves the finished, live site to their portfolio.

The project: what your child actually does

A Explorer mission, guided by Spark from first idea to shipped artifact.

  1. 1

    Dream it up

Spark helps your child pick what their website is about — a pet fan page, a jokes-and-facts site, a headquarters for their club — plus one fun detail that makes it theirs. Idea first, before a single color.

  2. 2

    Design the look

One choice at a time: a vibe (sunshine party, deep space, slime lab, or their own invention), the giant title across the top, and the sections the site will have. Your child is art-directing a real web page before it exists.

  3. 3

    Press the magic button

This is the moment. Your child presses “Build My Website!” and their words become a real, live web page on screen — built from the exact topic, title, and look they chose. Not a picture of a website: an actual one.

  4. 4

    Remix it until it’s perfect

The first version is never the last. Your child asks for changes one at a time — bigger title, greener background, a new section — presses update, and watches the site change. That describe-build-look-again loop is the whole skill.

  5. 5

    Debrief with Spark

Spark asks the one question that makes it stick: what was the coolest part of turning your words into a real web page? Naming it is how your child owns what they just learned.

  6. 6

    Save it to the portfolio

The finished website is saved to your child’s portfolio as a real, viewable page — proof that a seven-year-old can make something that actually works on the internet.

What it secretly teaches

Describe it clearly, and you can build a real thing.

Websites feel like magic that happens to other people. Build Your First Website pulls back the curtain: your child learns that a real web page is just a set of clear decisions (what it’s about, what it says, how it looks) described precisely enough to build. That’s the same skill that runs through every FoundrKids mission, aimed here at something a kid is thrilled to make: a page that’s really, actually theirs.

The remix loop is where the real learning hides. The first version is never quite right, and instead of getting frustrated, your child learns to change one specific thing, rebuild, and look again. Describe, build, refine — the exact loop professionals use — practiced by a seven-year-old who just wants a greener background. They leave knowing they can make real things on the internet, not just scroll through what other people made.

What ends up in the portfolio

A real, live web page

The finished website your child designed and remixed — a genuine, viewable web page saved to their portfolio, not a screenshot or a mockup. Proof they can turn an idea into something that actually works.

Questions parents ask about Build Your First Website

What does my child actually make in Build Your First Website?

A real, live web page (designed by describing it to Spark, then remixed until it’s exactly right), saved to their FoundrKids portfolio as an actual viewable website, not a drawing or a mockup.

Does my child need to know how to code to build a website?

No — not a single line. Your child designs the site entirely by describing it in plain words: the topic, the title, the look, the sections. Spark turns those decisions into a real web page, and your child remixes it by asking for changes. The skill is describing a design clearly and iterating on it, which comes long before code.

Does Build Your First Website require a box, and what age is it for?

No box. It’s a Studio mission, built entirely in the FoundrKids app in about 15-25 minutes, for the Explorer tier (ages 7-10). Kit missions need a physical FoundrKids Kit, and kits are coming later; Studio missions like this one need nothing but a screen. It’s rolling out now, and Founding Families get it first.
